GREENHAM COMMON PEACE CAMP 1984
WATER CARRIERS Yellow Gate (January)
G.C.5
A single stand-pipe by a busy main road supplied water to all the camps.
Water was collected in plastic containers and ferried about in shopping
baskets. As evictions began to make life more precarious mobility became
essential - at Indigo Gate there was a bender on wheels. Later in the year I
saw a mobile garden - a pram with two grow-bags sprouting tomatoes!
